What changes inside the workflow

Completeness check

Flags before submit

The ApplyOnline form identifies missing information before the application can be submitted. A half-built file stays on your side of the line.

Identity

NextGenID on all

NextGenID identity verification applies to every application, not a subset.

Missing-info requests

Inside ApplyOnline

Requests for further information are handled within ApplyOnline rather than by email or phone.

The deadline is a workflow deadline

A manual application you plan to finish “next week” in late October may not exist as an option by then. And the replacement channel will not accept it until it is complete. Build VMG files in ApplyOnline now, while both channels are open.

VMG Goes ApplyOnline-Only and Manual Lodgements Stop on 2 November. The Form Won’t Submit an Incomplete File

Victorian Mortgage Group is consolidating every new broker lodgement into one channel. The cut-off is a date on a calendar. The real change is that the channel enforces completeness before a file leaves your desk.

For Brokers with VMG on panel or VMG files in the pipeline

Victorian Mortgage Group flagged the move on LinkedIn on 25 August. Australian Broker reported it on 1 October and Broker Daily on 5 October. From 28 September VMG began transitioning broker lodgements to ApplyOnline. Brokers can submit manual applications until 1 November. From 2 November, manual applications stop. The ApplyOnline form flags missing information before it will submit, NextGenID applies to all applications, and information requests are handled inside ApplyOnline. That last set of details is what changes the way you build a VMG file.

1. What VMG announced

The short version: all new broker loan lodgements at VMG move to ApplyOnline. The manual route — whatever form your office used to send VMG an application outside ApplyOnline — closes. Australian Broker described the move on 1 October as shifting all broker lodgements to ApplyOnline; Broker Daily on 5 October described VMG plugging into ApplyOnline for all new loan lodgements.

On its own, a lender joining a lodgement platform is routine technology news. What makes this one worth a desk-level read is the combination of a hard stop on the old channel and a completeness check on the new one. Together they turn a technology change into a workflow deadline.

2. The four dates that matter

Date What happens Source
25 August 2026 VMG announces the transition VMG LinkedIn
28 September 2026 Transition to ApplyOnline begins VMG LinkedIn
1 November 2026 Last day brokers can submit manual applications VMG LinkedIn

Note what 1 November is. It is a Sunday. If your office does not lodge on weekends, your practical last day for a manual VMG application is Friday 30 October. Plan to it.

The cut-off is 2 November. The deadline that matters is the last day your office is open before it — and whether the file is complete enough to go into the only channel left.

3. A form that won’t take a half-built file

VMG says the ApplyOnline form flags missing information before submission. In practice, that moves the moment you discover a gap. In a manual channel, an incomplete file could be sent and the gap surfaced later by the assessor. In this channel, the gap surfaces at your desk, before the file can be submitted.

That is good discipline, and it should shorten the back-and-forth after lodgement. But it changes a habit many offices have: lodging a file to “get it in the queue” while the last document is chased. That habit does not survive a form that blocks an incomplete submission.

The trap in late October

A broker who plans to send a VMG file manually “once the payslip arrives” in the last week of October may find the manual channel closed before the payslip lands — and the ApplyOnline form unwilling to accept the file without it. Start VMG files in ApplyOnline now, while the manual channel is still a fallback.

4. NextGenID on every application

VMG’s announcement says NextGenID applies to all applications. For brokers, that means identity verification becomes a fixed step on every VMG file, not something that applies to a subset of applicants or channels.

Build it into the fact-find rather than the lodgement. If identity verification is triggered as part of the application, the client needs to know it is coming and what they will be asked to do. A client who is travelling, slow to respond, or uncomfortable with online verification is a timing risk you can see on day one, not on lodgement day.

Nothing here changes your own identification obligations. Whatever your licensee or aggregator requires for client identification still applies alongside the lender’s process.

5. Missing-info requests move inside ApplyOnline

The third change is quieter. VMG says information requests will be handled inside ApplyOnline. If your office tracks lender requests by email folder or by a BDM’s phone call, VMG requests will now arrive somewhere else.

That is a process question as much as a technology one. Who in your office monitors ApplyOnline for incoming requests? How quickly does a request get to the person who can action it? If the answer is “the broker, when they next log in”, VMG files will sit longer than they need to.

  1. Name an owner. Decide who checks ApplyOnline for VMG requests and how often.
  2. Turn on notifications. Make sure the relevant users receive ApplyOnline alerts and that they are not filtered away.
  3. Log it in your CRM. Keep a note of each request and response on the client file so the record is complete outside ApplyOnline too.
  4. Tell your BDM how you will work. Agree how urgent issues are escalated now that routine requests move into the platform.

6. Triage the pipeline before 1 November

The practical job this week is a pipeline sort. Every VMG opportunity you have falls into one of three groups.

Already lodged. Confirm with VMG how post-lodgement requests on these files will be handled during the transition, so a manual-channel file is not left waiting on a request you never see.

Ready to lodge. Lodge them in ApplyOnline now. There is no advantage in using a channel that is closing.

Still building. Start them in ApplyOnline, let the form tell you what is missing, and chase those items first. A file that is still building in the last week of October has only one way in.

If anyone in your office has not lodged through ApplyOnline recently, or VMG is not yet set up in your ApplyOnline account, sort that out before the deadline rather than on the day.

7. What a single channel asks of your desk

A single, structured lodgement channel is a trade. You lose flexibility: no sending a file in a different format, no lodging ahead of the last document. You gain predictability: the form tells you what is missing, identity is handled the same way every time, and requests arrive in one place.

Whether that trade suits your office depends on how your files are built. Offices that already complete files before lodgement will barely notice. Offices that rely on lodging early and finishing later will feel it. The time to find out which one you are is before 1 November, on a file that can still go in manually if something breaks.

  • The ApplyOnline form flags missing information before it will submit. Incomplete files stay on your side.
  • NextGenID applies to all applications. Tell clients at fact-find.
  • Information requests move inside ApplyOnline. Name an owner and turn on notifications.
